How to assess AI maturity

A useful AI maturity assessment should do more than produce a score. It should help leaders make better decisions, and give them clarity on where to go next.

1. Start with a readiness check

A lightweight AI readiness check is often the best place to begin. It gives you a quick sense check, highlights the obvious gaps and creates a starting point for discussion.

2. Capture perspectives across layers

3. Assess all five dimensions

Avoid the trap of measuring only technology. Tools and data matter, but AI maturity also depends on leadership intent, cultural readiness, workforce capability, performance discipline and governance.

A balanced view helps leaders avoid over-investing in one area while under-investing in the conditions that make adoption stick. A well-architected platform won't fix an unclear strategy, and a clear strategy won't survive a workforce that hasn't been brought with it.

4. Prioritise the moves that unlock value

5. Re-measure over time
