Leadership Coaching Auckland
Leadership coaching at Five helps people lead better in the job they have now, or the one they're stepping into. We coach managers, emerging leaders and senior leaders across Auckland and New Zealand, and every engagement is tied to what your organisation needs from that person.
Who it's for
Who it's for
Managers stepping up: first-time and mid-level managers who need to lead people, not just do the work.
Emerging leaders: high-potential people your organisation is preparing for bigger roles.
Senior leaders: executives taking on a bigger brief, a new team or a turnaround. For C-suite coaching, see our executive coaching page.
How it works
How it works
Agree the focus first. You, your coach and your line manager agree what you're working on and what success looks like.
Coaching sessions. Emerging leaders usually have six 90-minute sessions over three to four months. Senior leaders usually have 6 to 12 months of fortnightly sessions.
Check in at the midpoint and the end. We review progress with your line manager, and usually HR, without breaking confidentiality.
In person or online. In person in Auckland, or on Teams anywhere in New Zealand.
What changes
What changes
Leaders typically come away with clearer priorities, stronger relationships with their stakeholders, better delegation and steadier decisions under pressure. We measure progress against the goals agreed at the start.
If you're starting a new chief-level role, an Executive Traction Lab can come first: one intensive day built on confidential stakeholder feedback, followed by six months of embed coaching.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is leadership coaching?
One-to-one work with an experienced coach to build how you lead: how you set direction, make decisions, delegate and bring people with you. It focuses on your real situation, not a generic course.
What's the difference between leadership coaching and executive coaching?
Executive coaching is leadership coaching for the most senior roles, where the stakes and the stakeholders are bigger. At Five the same approach runs through both. Executive coaching usually runs longer and includes an ROI report.
Is leadership coaching confidential?
Yes. Your line manager hears what has shifted, not what you discussed.
Who are the coaches?
Nick Mackeson-Smith and Sally Schmall coach senior leaders. Anna Kingston and Jo Workman coach emerging leaders and managers.
Do you only work in Auckland?
No. We're based in Auckland and coach across New Zealand, in person or online.
